Our Homeschooling Adventure

For those who might not know, we’re a homeschooling family of four based in the Houston area. We follow a four-day school week, allowing us to make the most of our fifth day with exciting adventures and experiences in and around Houston. One of our favorite destinations is Moody Gardens, and today, we’re sharing our visit to Palm Beach as the perfect end-of-summer adventure.

Timing Is Everything: A Travel Tip

Before we jump into our day at Palm Beach, here’s a quick travel tip we’ve picked up along the way: always check school holidays for your travel destinations. Different school districts have varying vacation times, and this can significantly affect crowd levels and costs. For example, while some U.S. schools have a long summer break and Christmas vacation, others might have mid-term breaks or half-term holidays at different times. Understanding these holiday patterns can help you plan your trips to avoid crowds and potentially save money.

A Day at Palm Beach: The Last Summer Splash

As we made our way to Palm Beach at Moody Gardens, we were reminded of the special place this destination holds in our hearts. The anticipation was building for the last weekday adventure of the 2023 summer season.

We kicked off our day with a visit to Star Drug, a charming old-style soda fountain restaurant serving delicious breakfast and lunch. It’s a local gem on the island that we can’t resist.

Entering Palm Beach, we were greeted by a cheerful atmosphere, ready for a day of relaxation and fun. The park offers everything you need – water rinse-offs, bottle filling stations, life jackets, ice cream, lockers, gift shops, concessions, and even a full bar for adults.

Our day was filled with laughter and splashes as we enjoyed the Lazy River, thrilling tower slides, and stunning views. The park was still wonderfully calm, making it an unforgettable experience.

Conclusion and Travel Wisdom

As we wrap up our last weekday summer adventure at Palm Beach, I hope you’ve enjoyed this glimpse into our day of fun and relaxation. Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or new to the adventure scene, always remember the power of timing when planning your trips. Checking school holidays can help you make the most of your travels by avoiding crowds and potentially reducing costs.
